Popular

Course Description:

HG 101 / First Rounds – Handgun Edition is the first class in our “Handgun Series”. This is what we call the “exposure” class. This class is a quick introduction into handguns and is for those with little to no experience.

This class can also be known as “Intro into Handgun” and “Handgun Basics“.

This class is approximately 2-3 hours. This is a hybrid class. Students will receive a PDF copy of the PowerPoint (lecture) and video links to the recorded PowerPoint video. Students need to have an active Google account. The video links will be sent to their gmails; students need to be logged into YouTube with their provided gmail in order to watch the video(s).

Most beginner handgun classes (with other instructors) can be as long as 4-8 hours. In our experience, most students become overwhelmed with how long the class is. Most are nervous about the shooting portion. Our goal is to spend as much time as possible working on the shooting fundamentals, handgun manipulation, dry-firing, and actually shooting. We feel like most students are done/tired/checked out after 2-3 hours.

Handguns, ammunition, clear safety glasses, and electronic ear muffs are provided in this class. Students may bring their own handguns and ammunition. In fact, we encourage they do!

  • Handguns: 22lr single and double action revolver, 22lr Glock semi-auto pistol, and 9mm Glock pistol
  • Ammunition: 30 rounds of 22lr and 20 rounds of 9mm

(Note: students do not have to shoot our handguns or ammunition, but we will not refund you the price difference. The handguns and ammunition is factored into the price).

Students are provided a copy of the PowerPoint for their reference. Like previously stated, this class is a quick introduction / exposure into handguns. It can be overwhelming with how much information there is. We encourage students to review the PowerPoint at home, and continue their learning by taking the next classes in this series, or through private lessons.

$ 100-145
  •

Course Description:

HG 102 is the second class in our “Handgun Series”. Students will spend more time practicing the fundamentals learned in 101. Students will also be introduced to new topics.

For students who do not own a handgun yet, don’t worry! We offer handgun rental packages that include ammo. For students who have their own handgun(s), you can bring those. We encourage students who do not know what handgun(s) to buy or want to buy something else, to rent any handgun(s) they may be interested in. If you are interested in a handgun that we do not offer, let us know. We may have something that is comparable.

New topics introduced:

  • Clearing malfunctions (tap-rack-assess).
  • Follow through and trigger reset.
  • Shot placement analysis and marksmanship.
  • Recoil anticipation (aka heeling or flinching).
  • More in-depth training on how to dry-fire at home, what to practice, and feedback devices.
  • Shooting further distances greater than 5 yards
  • Shooting drills

NOTE: This class will have two certificates. One will say, you “participated” in this class, and the other will say, you have “successfully completed” this class. Students will not receive a “successfully completed” certificate unless they demonstrate they are safe and competent in their gun handling abilities and shooting fundamentals.

We encourage students to take the HG clinic to work on the skills needed to pass 102 before proceeding to 103. Students do not have to retake 102 to receive a “successfully completed” certificate. As long as students can prove they are safe and competent in their gun handling abilities and shooting fundamentals, we will change their certificate.

Handgun Clinic

$ 60-105
  •

Course Description:

We call this the “practice clinic”. Our HG Clinic is meant to be taken multiple times. The purpose of this clinic is to provide students with an opportunity to practice with their peers and instructors. Students are encouraged to utilize the clinic to:

Complete the learning objectives needed to take HG 103.

  • Become safe and proficient with their gun handling abilities.
  • Become safe and proficient in operating their weapon system.
  • Become safe and proficient in their shooting fundamentals.

Students are encouraged to bring their own handgun(s). We offer handgun rental packages (ammunition is included). Students are not permitted to use their own ammunition in our rentals. Handgun rentals are only available to existing or current students. If you are a new student, please take HG 101 / First Rounds or a private lesson first, unless we have met you and made an exception.

Students will receive 1:1 instruction*. Instruction will be individualized based on: the information provided on the “student form” (that is required before each clinic), the highest class the student has taken, and our prior experience(s) with the student.

Our maximum ratio is 1 instructor to 2 students. Students will alternate turns; the first student will shoot during the first 15-minutes of live fire, the second student will shoot during the second 15-minutes of live fire, and then it will revert back to the first student.

Students are eligible to attend this clinic after completing HG 101, or if they’ve been exempted. Students may take this class again after attending HG 101, 102, 103, etc.

*Note: Instruction will not surpass the information taught in the highest class the student has taken or been exempt from. For example, we will not provide instruction to a student who’s highest class is HG 101 and wants to learn movement or drawing from the holster. We will ask the student to either take the classes leading up to the class that teaches that information, or schedule private lesson(s).
